Governor of troubled Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has roundly condemned the spate of violent explosions currently rocking the nation’s north.

He further urged President Goodluck Jonathan to quickly convene a stakeholder’s forum to proffer far reaching solutions to the incessant bombings.

Governor Aliyu who was reacting to the latest bomb incident which occurred today outside St. Theresa Catholic Church in Madalla, during the Christmas Mass, said in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Malam Danladi Ndayebo, that the spate of bombings in sections of the country have become a national emergency and must be treated as such.

According to the statement, the governor is deeply pained by the fact that the perpetrators chose a holy day (Christmas) to carry out such a dastardly act.

“The issue of security should not be left to government alone. My thinking is that government alone cannot stop the activities of terrorists which have left hundreds of innocent Nigerians either dead or wounded”, the statement added

He noted the importance of discussing with major stakeholders, with a view of finding out what the grievances of the perpetrators are and to proffer lasting solutions to them.

Also reacting the Niger state bombings, Commissioner of Police Alhaji Ibrahim Maishuhu, who comfirmed the attacks to Channels Television in Minna, said the explosions which occurred in the early hours of today also claimed the lives of three police men.
