Africa’s candidate for World Bank presidency, Nigeria’s Minister of Finance Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala says vying for the position and succeeding will not put a stop to the on-going economic reform programmes in Nigeria.

She insists her commitment to her fatherland will not waiver noting that, the economic management team is more than capable of carrying on with the transformation agenda for economic revolution in the country.

Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, Dr Okonjo-Iweala described her nomination for the post of World Bank president as the choice of the African continent and looks forward to a fair and transparent process.

Job creation, youth empowerment and climate change issues in developing countries are top on her list of things to do if she emerges president of the world’s Apex bank.

She warned that if the world does not tackle the challenge of unemployment and crippling infrastructure that is facing most countries in the world, “then the world should prepare for many more spring” she said, making reference to the Arab spring.
