The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has announced the plans to conduct a survey to ascertain the number of jobs created and the unemployed in the country.
According to a statement from the bureau on Wednesday, the bureau will carry out a first quarter survey in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory to provide statistics on jobs created or lost.
The NBS claimed that the nation’s economy has recorded impressive growth in the last decade but that unemployment rate has increased over the same period.
The survey will cover the formal and informal sector which will comprises establishments, households and public institutions.
The bureau also warned that failure to provide information by any establishment will attract penalty.
