The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Tunji Bello on Friday said that the government will not restrict movement of people and vehicles during this month’s sanitation day exercise.

Mr Bello, who disclosed this in a press statement, said the non-restriction of movement was to enable students and invigilators to participate in the on-going examinations by the National Examination Council (NECO).

He however, implored Lagos residents to observe the monthly sanitation by cleaning their surroundings and clearing drainages in their neighbourhood to allow free flow of water into the secondary and tertiary channels.

Mr Bello cautioned against dumping of refuse into the drains.

“Residents should report anyone found dumping refuse in any water path to law enforcement agencies; shielding such people would further endanger lives and property,” he said.

He gave the assurance that the Lagos State Waste Management Authority would remove all refuse generated during the exercise to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment.
