There are reports that sporadic gunshots are ongoing around Naibawa and Darmunawa areas of Kano state, forcing residents to remain indoors.
According to witnesses, the first shot was heard around 3.25am, and the gun shot has since gained intensity in the affected areas.
Parents who were initially unaware of the situation in the area have gone to schools to collect their children.
The Kona Masalachi area where two students of the Federal Government College, Kano were killed on Monday have been cordoned off, while motorists on the Kano-Zaria federal highway are been diverted.
Banks, public and private businesses are hurriedly closing shops as military helicopter hovers the skyline of the embattled ancient city.
JTF spokesman, Lt Ikediche Iweha on confirming the account said the press will be briefed later on the development.
