Jonathan can rule from anywhere in the world – Maku

The Federal government has berated the criticism of President Goodluck Jonathan’s trip to Brazil, declaring that the president’s absence does not amount to negligent of duties.

President Jonathan being welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on arrival in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday

According to the Minister of information, Labaran Maku who briefed state house correspondents at the end of Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, “the president can rule from anywhere in the world.”

The Minister added that despite the president’s absence, there is no vacuum in government.

The weekly FEC meeting was presided over by Vice-President Namadi Sambo.

Despite the raging violence in Kaduna and Yobe States which has claimed close to 100 lives, President Jonathan departed for Rio de Janeiro, on Tuesday, to attend the United Nations’ Earth Summit, RIO+20.

A dusk to dawn curfew has been imposed in Kaduna state and in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, keeping residents in doors for two days, as security agents battle to restore peace.

The president wass accompanied by his wife, two governors and a number of Ministers.

A wide range of criticism has greeted the president’s trip to the earth summit, with opposition party, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), describing the trip as the height of insensitivity and confused leadership.

“The decision by the President to travel two days after dozens of innocent Nigerians, including women and children, were killed or maimed by suicide bombers in Kaduna state, is a “sign of insensitive and confused leadership” the party stated.

Also, the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) condemned trip to Brazil, saying the trip was like desertion of duty despite the “gloomy atmosphere pervading the country.”

Oh well, what was i expecting? Pls tell Labaran Maku to relocate to Kaduna. madman.

I dont understand Jonathan anymore. Is like its a normal routine now when ever there is bomb blasts. He’s always condemning the act and promise to bring the culprits to book. If i may ask which book? Hmmmmmmmm. Environmental conference, hmmmmm.

  • Olawalei

is the is labaran maku sensible at all? Micheal Aondoakaa made this same statement during the yaradua imbroglio……..

  • BOSS 8

Sorry to say but Maku is talking like a fool. There is a difference between “ruling” and “leading”. A true and concerned leader would stay at home and put out the fire on his house instead of travelling half way around the world. That is just so insensitive. I remember a time when Cameron was in South Africa or so and an issue came up; he flew back to Britain immediately. Can you imagine Obama travelling for an Environmental Summit while cities in the U.S. are bombed and terrorised on a weekly basis; and planes are falling from the sky? Jonathan claims he is from a humble and modest background but his actions do not reflect it. So sad. Thank God I didn’t vote for PDP and this bunch of non-caring inept “rulers”.

Maku, we did not elect a president to rule us from anywhere, if not we would hv elected a foreigner. the point is the sensitive of the issue should be make him ensure there is peace in the country……

I wonder what has become of great Nigerian army this days. They are just watching the nation they labourer and paid for its unity with their blood being plundered by crocodile’s skin ruler in power. Next election we shall elect a British Nigerian to rule from abroad instead . Ewu conko.

HE HAS ORDERED THEM. JUST WATCH IF THEY CANNOT DO THE JOB THEY WILL SOON BE FIRED. STOP BLAMING JONATHAN ON BAD GOVERNMENT BLAME PDP. BUT ANYHOW SHA JONATHAN YOU BE FOOL OOH. HOW PEOPLE GO DIE FOR NIGERIA  YOU NOW COME ABSCOND GO BRAZIL. TO GO DO WHAT?  BRAZIL BETTER PASS US?

    • Bayo

My brother, Brazil is better than Nigeria, however, we can make it to where Brazil is today if we try to put our acts together like Brazil has been doing for the last 18 years. Try to read more about that country. Tks.

Jona rule from anywhere. Maku u are a big fool.

  • Lanruma4call2000

Labaran Maku is totally insane. How can a man that cannot rule when at home now rule from a foreign land? Was he rigged into office to pilot Nigeria affairs from oversees tour?
Hope Nigerian can hear “Fellow Nigerian once again” the so called democracy is nothing to write about.

During the London riot of 2011, the prime minister David Cameron and host of other top Government officials were abroad for one reasons or the other. As soon as the conflict broke out, there all made their way back to the country in order to devise means to stop the riot and to protect their citizenry.
Why should Mr president depart Nigeria at this point in time, was He elected or imposed on us from abroad or anyway in the world. I think the Presidents and his parliament are getting it very wrong and this depicts how insensitive they all are of the problem of the ordinary man.
Maku or whatever he is called should be ashamed of himself…….May God help us.

FOR NOW JONATHAN IS THE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA WHETHER SOME SECTION LIKE IT OR NOT.
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME EVER THAT A NIGERIAN PRESIDENT IS BEEN HOSTILE TO BY A SECTION OR RELIGION.
WE ARE DESTINED TO SEPARATE MOW  BUT IS UNFORTUNATE BECAUSE  THE EVENTS OF THE LAST MONTHS HAVE DEMONSTRATED THAT NIGERIA IS A NATION FORGED.
ANYTHING FORGED WILL NEVER BRING THE DESIRABLE RESULT AND THAT IS THE REASON THE COUNTRY IS UNSTABLE.

WHICH WAY NIGERIA AS WE NOW KNOW THAT WE DO NOT BELONG?.  JONATHAN IS NOT ACCEPTED AND NO ONE WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER JONATHAN.
IT SEEMS NIGERIA AS A NATION IS DOOMED.  HOW EVER WE SHOULD  PART AMICABLY.

SOUTH AND NORTH SUDAN HAVE GONE THEIR SEPARATE WAYS.
NORTHERN IRELAND IS WORKING TOWARDS SELF GOVERNMENT AND MANY OTHERS.
    WHICH WAY NIGERIA?

JONATHAN IS JUST A VICTIM OF A SYSTEM WAITING TO DISENGAGE.  HE IS THERE FOR A PURPOSE TO MIDWIFE AND CHART AWAY FOR PEACEFUL SEPARATION. JONATHAN REPRESENT PEACE.

Maku, is,saying that if your hous is on fire you can quench the fire from anywhere, and you dont have to show concern. I think i get the point right. What a clueless team we have as leaders. When will our leaders ever accept criticism when they are wrong?

  • Dr. J. Hope

When you put these poor leaders who are not fit to rule their own family to run the affairs of Nigeria, what you have is chaos, killings, armed robbery, and politician looting the local, state, and national treasuries. Enough is enough! How can a man who cannot manage Nigeria affairs at home expected to run the country from Brazil?

  • Loveog

A responsible president hears of a disaster in his country, cancelled his trip and head back home to be with his people. Well, how do we classify a president that  run abroad in the middle of disaster?

  • Bestlybest

it is noe clear, jonathan is a ruler not a leader and that is why he can rule from any where in the world.

  • Digest444

Fellow Ngerian citizens. I would like to remind you all that the Federal Republic of Nigeria can function better without a President. We had experimented it for 7 months yet nothing happened.
Please do not waste your energy in focusing on our leaders. Our leaders are all wrongly chosen people for a rightful job. They all have no vision.
I will advise Nigerian citizens to their future and how to get better for themselves and their communities. Remember that bad things comes and go….those so call leaders will surely go one day.

    Thanks

  • Apata_moses

Yes, depite his absence there was no vacuum and there can not be, because even if he is around, he and his wife can only complicate the issue. If he is at home, at most he will visit the states to tell the people that ‘they (boko haram) have not ther respect for anybody or place, not even aso rock’ give his wife the opportuinity to speak, well …………….

2015 hurry up come now! now!! now!!!
