A car bomb killed at least three people and wounded many others in a market in the eastern Iraqi town of Zubaidiya on Wednesday, a health source and a provincial council member said.
Zubaidiya, which is around 100 km (60 miles) southeast of Baghdad, is a mainly Shi’ite town. A series of attacks targeting Shi’ites have hit Iraq in recent weeks.
The health source said three people had been killed and 10 wounded. The provincial council member also put the death toll at three and said 17 were wounded.
On Tuesday, bombs killed at least 44 people at markets in the country and authorities said they bore the hallmarks of sectarian attacks on Shi’ite Muslims by al Qaeda Sunni militants.
