The Nigerian Army on Tuesday fined the two officers, Colonel Kayode Yusuf and Sergeant Aliu Adeomi, who were arrested last Tuesday by the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola for driving on the BRT lane.

Both officers have been asked to pay N25, 000.00 each as fine.

General Kenneth Minimah, the general officer commanding 81 division, gave the order while addressing the court marital established to discipline 13 army personnel for their misconducts.

“No military personnel is above the law,” the Army General said.

He added that the action of the two officers arrested by Mr Fashola was against the Lagos State traffic law and regardless of their apology to the governor, they will still pay the N25,000 fine.

General Minimah said that the fine would serve as a deterrent to others, charging other soldiers to obey the laws of the state, including taking the BRT lane.

“No army personnel should take the BRT lane because they are designated for buses, if we get it right it is for our common good.’’

He said the law was meant for Lagos residents, and the military should help Lagosians to abide by the law.

“In this regard, we will continue to help the State Government in enforcing the law,’’ he said.
