A man suspected to be a kingpin of a gang which majors in the vandalisation and theft of petroleum products has been arrested by Ogun State Police Command.

The man was arrested, Monday, alongside two members of his gang.

The men, Lateef Ayoola, Abelat Dayo and Adekoya Azeez, were arrested on Monday while trying to escape with 20 units of 25-litres keg of petroleum products.

Apart from Mr. Ayoola, the leader, the other two men are teenagers: Mr. Dayo is 18, while Mr. Azeez is 17.

The Ogun police public relations officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement said that “the suspects were arrested on the pipeline along Ajura / Ogere axis of the state while waiting patiently to transport their products- PMS in about twenty- 25ltr jerry cans.”

“Mr. Lateef, who has been the kingpin in the vandalisation of pipeline in Ogun, and has been on the run for many months, instructed the two other boys to keep watch on their product which were eventually recovered from them,” the police spokesperson said.

Mr. Adejobi warned that the state command would not tolerate any acts of vandalism, and urged the public to always provide the police with information.
