Considering the incessant wave of attack by the radical Islamic Sect, Boko Haram, in  Yobe state, the Joint Task force (JTF) in the state has embarked on an enlightenment campaign for the people of Damaturu, the state capital, on the need to give information to the security with a view to curb the activities of the insurgents.

Briefing journalists shortly before the campaign across the major roads of the town, Commander Mohammed Wabi of the Defense Headquarters said the security of lives and property of the citizenry is the responsibility of all and urged the people to disclose useful information that will track down the attackers.

He said, security forces will soon assist Damaturu community with portable drinking water, free medical services as well as free books to students as a way of complimenting the efforts of government.

He said those murdering people in the name of fighting for the Almighty should be rest assured they will not inherit the kingdom of God and urges them to desist from such act and to seek God’s forgiveness.

The State commander of the JTF in the state, Lieutenant Colonel Abu Oba, called on Damaturu residents not to relocate as security forces will continue to work assiduously towards the safety of their lives while maintenance of law and order in the state will continue to be its watchword.

He urged the media to play an active role in educating the people on the need to report non conformists in the society to security agents so that normalcy can be restored across the whole country.

The team later went round town enlightening residents to reveal the perpetrators so that normalcy can be restored.

Pamphlets were distributed while jingles disabusing the minds of the people from joining the sect were being played through a Public Address Van.
