Okorocha offers employment to all qualified physically challenged citizens

The governor of Imo state, Mr Rochas Okorocha has offered employment to all qualified physically challenged citizens in the state.

The newly employed will be joining the government’s pay roll in the state’s ministries, agencies and local government offices

During a meeting with physically challenged citizens at the Ikemba Ojukwu memorial centre in Owerri the governor noted that his administration is willing to partner with the physically challenged people in the state to move his rescue mission agenda for the state to a different level.

He also noted that the state government will immediately embark on the establishment of special skills acquisition centres for the uneducated ones so they can be trained in various productive skills.

This is the second time the governor met with the physically challenged persons in the state since his inauguration as the governor of Imo state.

Hundreds of physically challenged persons from across the 27 local government area of the state gathered at the Ikemba Ojukwu Memorial Centre for a special session with the governor.

The governor charged them to be more productive and imbibe a sense of belonging in their day to day affairs in the state noting that every disability in them is an advantage and a gift from god.

There was a resounding joy when the governor announced the immediate and automatic employment of all the qualified physically challenged citizens into all the ministries, agencies and local government offices across the state.

Meanwhile as they commended the governor for his kind gesture, some of them still thinks the governor should also establish a school for the blind because Imo state is the only state in the south east without a school for the blind.

The governor also appointed a special adviser who will handle matters relating to the physically challenged citizens.

Yea, this man, Governor Rochas Okorocha is the only governor we can point out in Nigeria. May God bless him.
What he just did is what the Europeans always do to make their physically challenged citizens feel the love of their people and to make them know that they are well recognised in the society not the way even able-bodied Nigerians are begging on the street for the level of poverty meted out on them by our government.

With actions like this in a State that has been backward in so many areas, who says there is no hope for this Country? Here is a governor believing that physically -challenged people in his State can be of immence help to his administration when an erstwhile governor of a neighboring state had called poor pensioners asking for their money “dead woods”.
Truly with governors like ROCHAS OKOROCHA OF IMO STATE, FASHOLA OF LAGOS STATE, SULLIVAN CHIME OF ENUGU STATE and a very very few others, there is hope for this Country.. Come rain come shine, this Country will one day blossom again. I believe in one indivisible Nigeria!! Up GEJ, your boys are working but then, is 30% a pass mark?

I commend Governor Okorocha for this great move. The physically challenged people are doing great things all over the world and maximizing their life. Some are even doing better than those who are not physically challenged but physically lazy. I believe there is ability in disability, I believe there is advantage in disadvantage. My book – Don’t Die Sitting – was inspired by those who are physically challenged but mentally alert. Thank you again Gorvernor Okorocha, it’s  step in the right direction

Stop giving these people Govt job instead empower them to be independent one of the Govt .They have to learn to be creative that is what they want to be not to go to Govt ever month for salary. That becomes avenue for Govt to siphon the state money by the commissioners in the name of paying disable workers. They want to be Independent of the Govt money

Any able-bodied today can become physically-handicapped tomorrow, so the plight of the physically handicapped should not be politicised such that Okorocha’s good work today may be seen as UPGA policy tomorrow. There are many physically handicapped in the rural areas and Okorocha should ensure that adequate publicity is given to this laudable policy through traditional rulers and town criers. Reliance on terlevision and radio is not enough as many rural dwellers are paying poll tax for darkness. Kudos Okorocha.
