Chairman of the Africa Union (AU) and the President of Benin Republic, Boni Yayi has called on Nigerians to stop projecting the Boko Haram menace ravaging some parts of the country, but rather support government towards realizing its developmental strides.

The AU chairman was speaking at the Obudu ranch resort in Cross-Rivers state after his weeklong vacation at the resort which he described as second to none in Africa.

Mr Yayi  described Nigeria as a country blessed with many natural resources, noting that if fully harnessed, will attract economic gains to the country.


On the insecurity that is plaguing some parts of the country and the continent, Mr Yayi affirmed AU’s readiness to ensure that lasting peace is brought to affected areas by engaging all the interest groups dialogue.

He stressed the need for African leaders to unite to ensure the promotion of peace, security, good governance, and transparency for the socioeconomic development.

The AU leader also disclosed his vision is to link Nigeria and Benin Republic together by connecting the neigbouring countries via railways, airport, seaways and road networks.

This he claimed will promote desired economic activities in countries, stressing that, the political will is already there as he expressed his optimism that, it will be achieved.

On his impression about the ranch resort in Cross river state, the Beninoise confessed that, it is the most beautiful site he has ever visited in Africa.

He described the mountain resort as “a pleasant surprise, a jewel that must be patronized to thrive and God’s wonder in this part of the world.”

He enjoined all those yet to visit the ranch resort to avail themselves the opportunity of doing so, and have a feel of the bountiful attractions that abound there.
