The House of Representatives has debated the amendment of money laundering and terrorism bills by passing them through the second reading.
Leading the debate on Thursday, the House Majority Leader, Honourable Mulikat Akande-Adeola said the amendments were proposed to remove Nigeria from the list of countries with deficient laws on terrorism.
The lawmakers who supported the bill said the amendment is critical to the economic lives of Nigerians while noting that the provision in the current Act made it difficult to arrest culprits.
The bills were then referred to the Committees on National Security and Intelligence, Justice and Drugs, Narcotics and Financial crimes for further legislative inputs.
The Senate had on Wednesday, also sought a similar amendment with the Terrorism Prevention Amendment Bill, which also passed second reading.
