The widows and families of the five slained police officers that were recently murdered by armed robbers in Ogun state has been awarded the sum of N7.5 million.

At a press briefing in Abeokuta, the state capital, the secretary to the state government, Mr.Taiwo Adeoluwa handed over N500,000 each, to widows of the deceased for immediate burial expenses, while he announced that N1,000,000 will be given to each of the families after the burial.

While promising the continuous assistance of the state government to the families, the state government however stated that the unfortunate incident will not deter it from providing adequate security of life and property in the state.

The five officers were brutally murdered by armed bandits at separate attacks carried out in Ibafo and Abeokuta, earlier in the week.

Widows clutching to their babies and family members no doubt are still trying to contend with the loss of their beloved and bread winners.

And as a way of alleviating their sufferings, the state government announced some measures which also included footing the bills of the injured officers and cash reward for families of the deceased promising to always feel for them especially during this trying period.

Responding on behalf of the families, Mr.David Ayogu commended the state government for the gesture.
