Sacked workers of the National Identity Manager Commission (NIMC) have petitioned the House of Representatives over their sack and asked for the removal of the present director general of the commission.

The workers, who were before the House Committee on Public Petitions, said about 4029 of them were laid off from the commission.

However, Director General of the Commission, Chris Onyemenam, in his own presentation, explained that the disengagement became necessary because most of the staff were “redundant”.

He also disagreed over the number of “redundant” disengaged staff from the commission, putting the figure at 3099

The committee is to consider all that it has heard and come up with a position on the matter. a position, all these workers will be praying, is in their favour.
