The Director, Public Affairs of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Tony Ojobo on Friday berated the performance of telecommunication companies in the country.

Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, Mr said the telecoms companies in Nigeria will undergo another round of drive test this month and any of them that fail to meet the requires Key Performance Indicators (KPI) will be sanctioned.

He said some telecom operators were fined in July for not meeting up with NCC’s KPI as gazetted since January 2012.

Mr Ojobo said the companies complained then that environmental challenges were the reasons for not meeting up the guidelines set by the NCC from the providers.

He said sanctions are meant to be a deterrent for the service providers and it should not be viewed as a means of money making by the commission.
