Asian stocks traded higher today in a quiet trading session as volume remained low with majority of financial markets shut for the Christmas holiday.

However, markets in china were the best performers, hitting a 5-month high.

Japan’s Benchmark Nikkei closed up 1.41 percent at 10,080.1 points.

Meanwhile, investors continue to remain on the edge owing to the political stalemate in the US congress over spending cuts and tax hikes.

With the House of Representatives and the senate on their Christmas break, budget talks will likely resume after today.
