Unknown gunmen on Tuesday attacked the interim management officer of Dawakin Tofa local government area of Kano state, Alhaji Musa Kambai Sumaila, killing his driver.
The council boss who is the supposed target sustained injuries from the attack alongside his friend who was with him in the car.
Eyewitness accounts claimed that the chairman, Alhaji Musa Kambai Sumaila, was attacked in Sallare area of Kumbotso local government area alongside his driver and one other person suspected to be his friend.
Confirming the attack, the police spokesperson in Kano Magaji Musa Majiya, said “the driver was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor while the interim management officer and his friend are responding to treatment in hospital within the city.”
Majiya further stated that investigation is on-going on the matter.
Also, another person identified to be a plumber has been shot dead in Kawo quarters of Nassarawa local government area.
Although there was no confirmation from the police but resident says “the attackers came on motorcycle and tracked their victim on the street and then shot him dead”
Meanwhile, gun shots are being reported in Ja’in, Sharada Phase 3.
Residents said they cannot identify whether it is officers of the Joint Task Force (JTF) or gunmen that are responsible for the shooting, as the gun shots rages on.
