The Lagos State Government Monday alerted the general public to be wary of an e-mail on a Facebook account fraudulently set up under the name of “Babatunde Fashola” requesting unsuspecting members of the public to pay N2,700 to a GT Bank account 0122895107 as application form fee for employment.

The GT Bank account is opened in the name of one Onyebe  Earnest who, according to the government, has been sending bulk SMS with the name “CSC LAGOS” to advise the public on the GTB account number into which the money should be paid.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Lateef Raji, the State Government dissociated itself from the message, warning the general public to regard such SMS as false and misleading.

The Government, which further clarified that employment processes in the Civil Service Commission does not require the payment of any fee, maintained that it has the responsibility to protect the interest of the citizens and would take every legitimate action to ensure that those behind the scam are apprehended and brought to book.
