Ban On Tinted Vehicles Still In Force – Police

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, warned Nigerians on the indiscriminate use of tinted glasses in the country.

In a press release signed by the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba the police said it has observed with grave concern, the alarming abuse and unlawful use of tinted glasses by many motorists.

The police also condemned   the plying of highways with unregistered/unlicensed vehicles by some vehicle owners across the country, despite repeated warnings by the police authority an occurrence it said has the capacity, not only to heighten criminal activities, but to place unnecessary pressure on security agencies and law abiding citizens.

Mr. Mba adds that “in view of the potential danger posed by the indiscriminate use of tinted glasses and unregistered/unlicensed vehicles, corroborated by recent security reports that criminal elements, including suspected terrorists, now hide under the cover of the use of the afore mentioned types of vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles to execute their nefarious trade, the IGP wishes to remind Nigerians from all walks of life, including politicians, military and security personnel, that the ban on unlawful and indiscriminate use of tinted glasses and legislation forbidding the plying of unregistered vehicles on our highways, are still very much in force.”

In the light of this the inspector general of police has directed all zonal AIG’s and state command commissioners of police to arrest and bring to book, in line with extant laws, all defaulters.
