The federal government has reaffirmed its commitment to provide quality and transparent leadership in spite of the criticisms by the opposition.

An official in the office of the secretary to the government, Mr. Ferdinand Agu, who made the pledge in Abuja at a meeting of Information Managers and Special Advisers On Media, said government’s commitment to transparency informed the passage of the Freedom of Information Act to enable Nigerians ask questions about governance

He however advised information managers to seek greater collaboration in executing their duties instead of inter-agency rivalry that exists among some information managers.

Chairman of the occasion, Mr Ben Murray-Bruce challengeded information managers to be bold and tell their bosses the truth at all times in line with the dictates of their profession.

He said politicians should be guided from acting irrationally.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, and organizer of the event stressed the need for information managers and media aides to protect institutions in order to have a united Nigeria.

The one day event which attracted information managers from across various government agencies and parastatals has as its theme Effective Information Management and Public Communication.
