Following lingering activities in the polity and the current sore relationship between the state, the federal government and the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), the River State government has maintained that there is no chaos in the state.

Briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt, the state capital, the Commissioner for Information, Ibim Semenitari said the government of Chibuike Amaechi is still in full control of the state.

The removal of Timothy Nsirim as chairman of Obio Akpor Local Government Area and subsequent replacement with Chikaodi Dike had sparked reactions within and outside Rivers state including a protest at the state’s house of assembly.

The caretaker Committee Chairman, Mr Dike and his team had also been prevented from entering the council building by men of the Nigerian police; a move the council boss said will not deter them from working.

In the middle of all of these, the state government has responded to reports making the rounds on the purported impeachment of Governor Amaechi insisting that these were mere rumours.
