The General Manager, External Relations of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), Kudo Eresia-Eke has refuted claims by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) that the NLNG is indebted to it.

NIMASA had last week prevented the NLNG from carrying out import and export of gas through one of the Bonny terminals, due to an alleged debt owed it by the gas company.

However, speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, Mr Eresia-Eke the issues raised by NIMASA have been determined by the National Assembly and the Supreme Court, both of which found the gas company not indebted to the agency.

Contrary to NIMASA’s allegation that the NLNG was cherry-picking its laws that would be obeyed, Mr Eresia-Eke said just as there is a law regulating the activities of the agency, there is also another law for the gas company. He said the agency did not consider the NLNG laws before taking actions to obstruct its activities.
