The Kwara state governor, Abdulfattah Ahmed has sworn in the new chairman and four members of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) with a charge on them to allow equity, transparency be their guiding principle in the conduct of the local government election.

The governor while conducting the swearing in ceremony noted that since the local government is closer to the people, their confidence and trust should be earned through a transparent and credible election that will stand the test of time.

Strengthening of democracy, he added, will occur at the third tier of government if credible and trustworthy people are appointed as umpire and urged the chairman and four members not to disappoint the confidence reposed in them but perform to the satisfaction of all parties.

Responding on behalf of others, the new chairman of the commission, Uthman Ajidagba thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in them and promised to be fair and just in the discharge of their duties.
