A high powered delegation from Brazil are in Edo state to explore opportunities of investment in the state particularly in the agricultural sector.

The 30 man delegation led by the Brazilian Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Agro-Business, Louis Menadi, had educationist, scientists, CEOs of Agriculture based companies and public sector workers all from the state of Leo Grand Seoul in Brazil.

The visit was facilitated by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Brazil, Vincent Okoedion.

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Nigeria, who remarked that the State of Leo grand Seoul is one of the most prosperous in Brazil, urged officials of Edo state to partner with them for the economic advancement of the state.

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dr Pius Odubu who received the visitors on behalf of the Governor promised to provide the enabling environment for the success of their venture.

He said that state government officials will meet with the trade delegation and identify areas of mutual interest which will blossom into a good trade and investment relationship between Edo state and Rio Grande Do Sul.

Dr. Odubu promised that the state government will give necessary attention to the entire process, adding that Edo state is looking forward to a fruitful deliberation between the two states.

Earlier, the Nigerian Ambassador to Brazil, Mr. Vincent Okoedion, who accompanied the trade delegation to Government House, Benin City, noted that the trade delegation was in Edo state to discuss trade and investment opportunities with the state government with a view to going into partnership that will be of mutual benefit.

On his part, the leader of the trade delegation, Mr. Luiz Fernando Mainardo, said they were being guided by the external policy of Brazil which encouraged them to strengthen relationship with Nigeria.

He expressed hope that this first visit will boost the expected trade co-operation between the two states.

Mr. Mainardo used the opportunity to invite Edo State governor and his deputy to attend the two trade fairs in the state scheduled for August this year and March 2014.

At the Palace of the Benin Monarch, Mr. Mainardo who was led there by the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Odubu, expressed  hope that the visit would lead to fruitful business partnership between Edo State and Rio Grande Do Sul.

Responding, the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Erediauwa, expressed delight over the visit.
