Two people were killed and several people were injured when some unidentified attackers threw an explosive device at a security patrol in the eastern city of Benghazi.

According to a statement by the military spokesman Col. Ali al-Shekhli, armed men in a car threw a bomb at a security patrol which claimed two lives and left several people injured as he assured that authorities have begun investigation and the culprits will be dealt with severely.

Libya’s former head of parliament, Mohammed el-Megarif, who resigned Tuesday because of a law that bans Gadhafi-era officials from holding senior posts, warned that weapons and militias are endangering Libya’s democratic transition.

The government of Libya is struggling to maintain law and order as spate of attacks on police stations and assassinations of security officials has continued to plague the peace of the country, less than two years after the fall of Dictator Moammar Gadhafi’s regime.
