The Kwara State Government is to resuscitate Quality Control Laboratories in the State for testing the efficiency and genuineness of pharmaceutical productions, processed foods and drinks in its stride to curtail drug abuse in the State.

The Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed
The State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed gave this indication in a message to this year’s celebration of the International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit trafficking.
Governor Ahmed reiterated his administration’s commitment to the fight against Drug Trafficking and Abuse through the partnership with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
This, he explained, was why the NDLEA was represented in the Drug Abuse Control Committee and the counterfeit drug and unwholesome process food task force established by the State.
The Governor said pandemic drug scourge has debilitating consequences such as social vices, civil upheavals on mankind across age and social strata.
Dr Ahmed, however, it was noteworthy that the cultivation of hard drugs has been reduced to its barest minimum in the State through government’s synergy with the NDLEA.
The State Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr Segun Oke, in his remarks assured the governor that the agency will continue to alert the public on latest threats associated with illicit drug production, trafficking and abuse in order to further reduce the level of drug abuse in the State.
Mr Oke added that the NDLEA will intensify its daily motorized patrol stop and search efforts and enlightenment campaign in the media in its drug war efforts.
