The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal on Saturday condemned the killing of twenty students and a teacher at Government Secondary School, Mamudo, in Potiskum, Yobe State by unknown gunmen, in what he described as “ignoble, wicked and horrendous.”

Yobe State is one of the three states under emergency rule imposed by President Goodluck Jonathan in May. The onset of the emergency rule was heralded with commendations across the country with the hope that it will bring an end to the bloodletting in the three North-Eastern States of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.

According to Mr Tambuwal, no reason can be given to justify such dreadful act.

In a statement issued in Abuja Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Imam Imam, the Speaker tasked security agencies to fish out perpetrators of the dastardly act and bring them justice.

He said the gains recorded by security agencies in their battle against terror in the country in recent weeks should be built upon in order to protect the citizens at all times.

While expressing sympathy with the families of the victims, Mr Tambuwal urged Nigerians to be more vigilant and to help security agencies with useful information to help secure their areas.

He equally called for information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of the killing.

He said the National Assembly will, at all times, give necessary support to ensure that peaceful and security is restored in all parts of the country.

Though the attacks bear the imprints of the deadly Boko Haram sect, no group has yet claimed responsibility.
