The Federal Executive Council (FEC) will no longer tolerate variation of contracts above 15 percent by the various ministries, agencies and departments.

The Minister of Information, Labaran Maku disclosed this to journalists after the council meeting.

He said the directive came from President Goodluck Jonathan who frowned at a situation where augmentation tends to exceed the original contract awards.

The president further directs the Bureau for Public Procurement to take note of the directive to avoid wastage of funds.

Also the council approved contract for the development of phase two of the Gusape district in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Minister of the FCT, Bala Mohammed said that the contract will open up the Gusape area to house more people who are trooping into the federal capital in droves.
