A legal practitioner, Collins Okeke on Wednesday labelled the Senate’s decision to retain provision of Section 29 (4b) in the 1999 constitution as “bad”.

He argued that the section is in conflict with Section 10 and 42 of the same Constitution.

Okeke who was speaking as a guest on Sunrise Daily, a programme on Channels Television wondered why Section 29 (4b) gives “married women” added advantage over others.

He also asked why another provision of the Constitution (Section 29 (4a) gives those who have attained the age of 18 and are married the liberty to renounce their citizenship of Nigeria while denying those who yet to be married and are under 18 the same right.
