The Kano state emirate council has again suspended the annual Traditional durbar.

Shamakin Kano, Alhaji Wada Kure, who spoke to journalists off camera could not say why the durbar was cancelled but rumours say  that the Emir’s deteriorating health might have been responsible.

“There will be no traditional durbar and all other traditional activities involving the emirate. All the district heads have therefore been directed to go back to their respective palaces to celebrate the Sallah normally.”

Earlier yesterday, the Emir made his first public appearance on wheelchair at the Eid prayer ground after which he proceeded on his horse carriage for hawan sallah.

The Emir was last seen yesterday after delivering his sallah message to the people of Kano state.

This is therefore the third time Kano traditional durbar was suspended since the deterioration of the Emir’s health in 2012.
