The Ekiti State Government, in collaboration with the World Bank  has formally launched Ekiti State Education Program Investment Project (SEPIP) to further improve the standards of education in the state.

Speaking at the launch, which held at the Lady Jibowu Hall, Ado Ekiti, the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, said that qualitative education for the people of the state remains priority to his administration.

He added that with the level of intervention of the State Government despite its limited financial resources, the timely intervention of the World Bank would go a long way in addressing financial challenges and help improve education standards in the schools.

Also speaking at the event, World Bank Country Director, Marie Francoise Marie-Nelly, represented by World Bank’s Senior Education Specialist, Professor Tunde Adekola, confirmed that the Ekiti State Government has met with the requirements of the World Bank following the unbeatable records of the state in the Nigerian education sector.

Past efforts made by the State Government towards achieving the objectives of its education agenda include bursary awards to indigenes of the state in tertiary institutions. The state has also reportedly distributed 30,000 laptops to students and 18,000 laptops to teachers in the state among other infrastructures provided.
