policeThe Kaduna State Police Command has arrested seven suspected armed robbers who specialised in snatching cars at gun point and another six man gang that specialised in vandalising rail track lines that link Kaduna to Abuja.

Surprisingly, the four suspected vandals are staff of the Nigerian Railway Corporation in Zaria. The State Police Commissioner, Umar Shehu said that they were arrested by his men while on a routine patrol along Gimi Village in Makarfi Local Government Area.

The suspects were conveying the 27 pieces of rail track line when the police intercepted their lorry.

Four of the suspected car snatchers were arrested in the state capital and the Police recovered fifteen stolen cars of different brands from them. The other three were suspected highway robbers. One locally made gun and a police pistol was recovered from them.

One of the suspected car thieves confessed to have stolen over 80 cars within four months. Another, Babangida Ibrahim, was dismissed from the Nigerian Army.

Others paraded included a 53 year old Fulani herdsman, Iliyasu Adamu, who was arrested for possessing an AK49 rifle and 14 rounds of live ammunition at Akwaya Daji Awon district in Kachia Local Government Area.

The suspects, who were between the ages of 20 to 50 years, were paraded by the CP Shehu at the state police headquarters.

According to Shehu, the arrests were made successful through public collaboration and that they would be charged to court as soon as investigations into their cases were concluded.

He assured that the Command would not relent in its fight against criminals and urged the general public to continue availing the police with information about any suspicious movement.
