Idris-KutigiIt was a very intense session in the National Conference on Wednesday as delegates contested the composition of the 20 committees as presented by the conference secretariat.

Some of the delegates said they were not put into the committees they preferred and also contested the composition of chairmen and deputy chairmen that were selected.

It was however agreed that delegates should formally forward their complaints to the secretariat, which would try to resolve the issues.

But another matter was brought up as a matter of urgent national importance.

A delegate had slumped on Wednesday, raising concerns over the need for first aid kits to be provided for the delegates of the conference.

The delegate was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, but another delegate, Musa Adede, described as unfortunate, the fact that the ambulance lacked oxygen, which was an essential medical equipment in every ambulance. “The ambulance was empty,” a delegate shouted.

It is the second time that such issue is occurring, but the issue was not deliberated on for a decisive action to be taken, as delegates focused more on the committee composition.

The direction that the conversation was taking was not to the satisfaction of some delegates. This issue was obviously one most delegates were interested in, as it resulted to a rowdy session. The chairman, Idris Kutigi, had a hard time restoring order, but it did not stop the tide as more delegates contested the composition of the committees.

The chairman made it clear that the committees’ work for the conference would start on Tuesday.
