Growth in the construction sector in Nigeria is projected to be the fastest of all emerging markets by 2018.
For the construction sector to achieve this there is a need to provide information on its economic value and its place in the overall economy, as it has the capacity to lead Nigeria’s economy.
This is the view of the Chief Executive Officer, Lekki Essential Services Limited, Mr Funmi Banjoko and the Chief Executive Officer of Inclusive Concrete and Engineering Limited, Mr Opeyemi Aminu.
The two construction experts are of the opinion that rather than import manpower from other countries, Nigeria should focus more on fixing structural problems facing the sector, some of which include reviving the technical and vocational schools as well as build more skills and acquisition centres across the country.
According to them, this will go a long way in improving manpower development which will boost the sector’s contribution to economic development.
