Chibok-girls-protestParents of the abducted girls of Chibok secondary school have appealed to the Federal Government to do more to rescue their daughters from the hand of their abductors.

Some of the parents ‎who attended a protest organised by the bring back our girls campaign in Abuja on Friday appealed to all Nigerians to unite in the fight against the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, for peace and stability to return to the country.

They are also appealing to the government to provide the necessary support for international bodies willing to offer help in combating insecurity.

It was another day for the “Bring Back Our Girls” protest, as protesters gathered outside the Maitama Amusement Park to hold their meeting for the day.

They were joined by parents of some of the abducted girls.

One after the other, parents of the girls narrated how the news of the abduction got to them as well as efforts made to rescue their children.

While the Federal Government is said to have accepted the intervention of the United States support to tackle the insurgency in the north east, there is however a strong plea to relevant authorities to match words with action.

A lot of emotions also poured out from some Nigerians at the meeting for government to help rescue the girls before any harm is done to them.

For many of them and others not at the protest ground, the fight against the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram, should not be handled with kid gloves.

It has been over three weeks since the girls were abducted by members of the Boko Haram sect  and the is no news about them. The military said they are making concerted efforts to locate the girls.

The leader of the sect, Abubakar Sahekau had, in a video released on Monday, threatened to sell the girls in a market.

The US, UK, China and France amongst other countries have offered to support the Nigerian government in rescue efforts and help end the insurgency.
