The Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi has said that the ongoing Nigeria Governor’s Forum is a way of re-evaluating and reviewing of performance as a governor to the state.
He said that the forum has in the previous years focused on poverty reduction, security, employment and education.
He stated that the basic policy that will reduce poverty is energy because it will bring about industrialisation which in turn will reduce insecurity “We believe insecurity is caused by poverty”
Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Governor Amaechi stated that the level of federalism that allows the state to operate may be too low which will hamper development; also adding that one of the issues that affects Nigeria’s law is lack of implementation of laws and regulations.
He also added that the implementation is not thorough, commending president Goodluck Jonathan on privatization of power, Governor Amaechi said there is more of darkness in the country now than power adding that the implementation is not complete.
Governor Amaechi speaking on life after office says he lives like every citizen in the country, such as eating at public places, driving himself amongst others. adding that he is getting himself in shape for normal life.
