governor_ibrahim_gaidam(1)The Yobe state Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, has ordered the 17 local government councils in the state to procure a total of 42, 500 bags of grains for immediate sale to people across the state at subsidized rate.

The directive, contained in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the state governor on Press Affairs and Information, Abdullahi Bego, also said the gesture is part of government’s effort to provide relief to people across the state as they return to the farms for the new farming season and as they observe fasting in the month of Ramadan.

The statement said each of the 17 local government councils will procure 2,500 bags of millet and corn at the cost of N10, 000 each and sell same at the cost of N3, 000 per bag.

Bego said every local government will contribute N25 million for the procurement of the 100 kilogramme bags of grains.

“Each of the 17 local government councils will procure 2500 bags of grains at the cost of N10, 000 each and sell to members of the general public at N3, 000 per bag. Each bag will weigh 100kg.

“The total amount to be spent by the councils in the procurement is N425 million at N25 million per local government”
The statement said the sales will commence throughout the state within the next 10 days.
