Edo-Lawmakers-FightThe crisis in the Edo State House of Assembly took a dramatic turn on Monday as the two factions had plenary sessions, separately.

While the APC House continued their sitting at the Government House premises where they relocated to following the renovation of the House of Assembly, the PDP lawmakers went ahead to hold theirs inside the chambers being renovated.

The impeached Deputy Speaker, Festus Ebea, presided as Speaker over the PDP sitting. The Police cordoned off the entire King’s Square.

Members of the Edo State House of Assembly, had impeached the Deputy Speaker of the House – Ebea – on allegations of misconduct and misdemeanour and elected Victor Edoror to replace him.

This act thickens an on-going crisis which began after four members of the House were suspended on allegation of misconduct.

After their suspension, the four lawmakers and five other members of the State House held a session and suspended the speaker and few other members of the House, insisting that they had been suspended without an offence.
