The crisis in the Edo State House of Assembly deepened on Tuesday, as the Minority Leader and the Minority whip were suspended for spear heading the parallel sitting by the members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House at the Assembly Complex currently being renovated.
The APC lawmakers at their sitting held on Tuesday at the Old Assembly Complex in the government House premises called on the police to open all routes around the Edo State House Of Assembly premises in view of the hardships being experienced by residents of the state.
Both the PDP and the APC lawmakers, currently having a disagreement after four members of the House, including the deputy Speaker were suspended, held their meetings simultaneously.
At the roll call at the APC members plenary, the PDP members were registered as absent.
The lawmakers reflected on the parallel sitting and passed a consequential motion to the effect that those who led the other parallel sitting of the PDP lawmakers be suspended.
The Speaker further urged the police to refrain from blocking the roads as they have no intention of stopping the PDP legislators.
At the State Assembly complex, the PDP legislators began plenary at 8:00am local time, with Honourable Friday Ogieriakhi raising an issue on the erosion ravaging Urohnigbe town as a matter of urgent public importance.
Also at the plenary Honourable Rasaq Momoh brought to the floor of the House, a matter of personal importance were he explained that he did not sign the impeachment notice against Honourable Fetus Ebea, reiterating that his signature was forged.
However, residents of the State have continued to have a hard time following the crisis as they now have to walk longer distances due to blocked major routes by the Police.
Some of them, who spoke with Channels Television, called on the warring parties to embrace peace because they are the worst hit in the crisis.
The Police have cordoned off major and minor roads around the Assembly Complex resulting in heavy vehicular traffic which makes residents complete their journey on foot
