Commuters plying the Nyanya/Maraba axis on the Keffi-Abuja expressway, on Saturday, witnessed a near immovable traffic following an accident involving a petrol tanker.
The petrol tanker conveying fuel was said to have lost control in the early hours of Saturday and rammed into another car before over turning its products.
No lives were lost but the commuters on that route said spending time in such traffic grid lock when accidents occur poses security threat to those who ply the roads.
However, security agents were on hand to save the situation, which ended up causing a grid lock, a situation which many people described as ‘unwarranted’, considering the security situation in the country.
Those who could not sit in the traffic boarded motorbikes, while some others trekked.
To prevent being held up in traffic for hours in the future, people plying the Nyanya /Maraba expressway have appealed to government to fast track the construction of the Karshi/Apo road, which would serve as an alternative route upon completion.
