Widows_armyWidows of Nigerian soldiers who are yet to collect gratuities accruing to their husbands are appealing to military authorities to pay them so that they can fend for their families.

The widows made their request when the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) donated food items to widows and wives of soldiers at the Ribadu Military Cantonment, Kaduna,  North West Nigeria.

President of the association and wife of the Chief of Army Staff, Mrs. Felly Minimah,  who led other executive members to  make the donation at the Ribadu Military Cantonment, Kaduna, stressed the need for the payment of entitlements  of  deceased soldiers and officers as this  will encourage the serving ones to be dedicated to their duties.

She also however commended the  soldiers and officers of One division for their efforts in tackling insurgency and other crimes within their areas of responsibility as well as praying for the repose of those who lost their lives in the battle field.

Presenting the food items which include tubers of yam, bags of rice/sugar, cartons of beverages, among other things, Mrs. Minimah  said the gesture was part of the cardinal objectives of NAOWA, to ameliorate the plight of wives of deceased soldiers and those still in service.
