The Nasarawa State House of Assembly on Monday directed the Clerk of the House to serve impeachment notice on Governor Tanko Al-makura.

The speaker of the House, Mr Musa Mohammed, gave the directive on Monday.

It followed a motion brought by the Deputy Majority leader, under matters of public interest, alleging that the governor mismanaged funds allocated to the state from the Universal Basic Education Commission and the Sure-P programme.

Twenty out of the 24 members of the State Assembly, who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), signed the petition, leaving the four members who are in the minority All Progressives Congress surprised.

Governor Al-makura, who is of the APC, and his supporters returned to Lafia from Doma Local Government Area to the shock of impeachment notice by the State Assembly, bordering on the utilisation of UBEC and Sure-P funds.

The PDP onslaught and impeachment plot, have moved from Adamawa to Nasarawa State where both governors under fire are from the APC stock.

In Adamawa, the panel set up to look at the allegations against the governor, Murtala Nyako and his deputy, Bala James Ngilari, submitted its report to the State House of Assembly on Monday.

The panel had invited the governor and his deputy for questioning but none of them showed up. They however, continued with their investigations despite the claims by the accused that the panel was illegal.
