The 34 suspects whose crimes include armed robbery, kidnapping, car snatching and cultism among others were  paraded at the headquarters of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Awkuzu in Anambra state.

Reacting to the development, Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, commended the State Police Command in their successful onslaught, and restated his commitment to supporting every measure that would see to the end of crime and criminality in the second phase of the war against criminals in the state.

The first phase of the war against criminals in the urban areas, tagged “Operation Nkpochapu”, an onslaught initiated by the administration of Governor Willie Obiano, was successful and the second phase which started in rural areas, where most of the fleeing hoodlums have gone to hide, has also started positively for the police as their hunt in this area yielded great results.

At the Headquarters of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Awkuzu, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Emeka Chukwuemeka, gave a description of the suspects and their mode of operation. He further stressed his zeal to work with other security officers and not to leave any stone unturned in the fight against crime.

Mr. Chukwuemeka also disclosed that some of those suspects arrested for cultism at Akwaeze in Nnewi South local government area of the state were secondary school students between the ages of 15 and 21.

Ammunition of different capacity including, five pump action guns, seven locally made short guns, one single barreled gun and several quantities of live cartridges, were recovered from the suspects.

The State Governor, who commended the state police command for their effort in crime fighting, reiterated his commitment to the course of fighting crime and criminal elements until Anambra State is rid of crime in whatever shade or form.

With the assurance of ‘no retreat no surrender’ from the Governor, it is expected that security sanity in its entirety would soon return to the people of Anambra State.
