Fatai-AkinbadeThe candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Fatai Akinbade, contesting for the governorship of Osun State is optimistic that he will win the August Governorship election that has the incumbent governor, Rauf Aregbesola, as one of the contestants.

Mr Akinbade said on Sunday that “the LP has what it takes to win the election”, insisting that it is not the party that guaranties victory for the party but the individual that is vying for the position.

The one time member Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State said that he had what was needed to win the election – the support of the people.

He said that he left the PDP because the party lacked internal democracy at that time.

“The lack of internal democracy in the party then was hindering development in the party,” he said.

‘People Based Party’

It is the fourth time that he is contesting for the governorship of the state, but this time he believes that he will come out victorious.

He said that the people of the state had always motivated him to contest for the governorship position, describing his political party as a ‘people based party’ that has the welfare of the people at heart.

According to Mr Akinbade, some of the sectors that his party would reform if voted in, would be the agriculture and education sectors. The party also has as part of its agenda the building of a Free Trade Zone that would draw more investments into the state.

He said that the agenda would also focus on health and the civil service which he said had already been bastardised and needed reformation.
