The Minister for Land, Housing and Urban Development, Mrs Akon Eyakenyi, has given assurances that the 10,000 housing units promised by the Federal Government through the Nigerian Mortgage Refinance Company would be provided in the shortest possible time.
The Minister, who inaugurated three committees to drive the initiatives, noted that adequate provisions has been made by the Government to ensure that the houses are delivered in the life span of the administration and that a succession plan has been put in place to ensure that Nigerians continue to benefit from the housing plan.
“I want to assure Nigerians that NMRC project is a project that has come to stay and it will be handled properly for Nigerians to benefit from it”, she said.
Mrs Eyakeniyi also said that the ground breaking ceremony would hold in August and that the project would be executed in phases which would last latest six months.
She added that the houses would be built based on the needs, interests and capability of Nigerians to ensure that people of different financial capabilities are able to benefit from the project.
