john jonahBayelsa State Government has, declared two billion Naira as the total amount available in its coffers after deduction of recurrent and capital expenditures spanning three months.

The Deputy Governor, Retired Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah, made this known on Tuesday during the monthly transparency initiative briefing for the months of April, May and June, 2014.

He said the state’s declaration of its monthly income and expenditure was in line with the administration’s policy of transparency and accountability.

Giving the breakdown of the income and expenditure, he disclosed that, as at the end of April 2014, the state posted a balance of 14.87 billion Naira, including the balance brought forward from the month of March, 2014, which stood at 7.263 billion Naira.

At the end of May, the state had a balance of 14.621 billion Naira including 8.938 billion Naira brought forward from the month of April, 2014.

Describing the economy of the state as stable compared to other states in the country, the deputy governor said, their administration was living up to its billings, which include provision of infrastructure, human capacity building and improving state’s internally generated revenue.
