The Osun state chapter of the All progressives Congress (APC) has raised an alarm indicting the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on plans to use security personnel for illegal and unconstitutional moves against the people as well as rig the forthcoming August 9 governorship elections.
In an Open letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, the state Chairman of the party, Elder Adelowo Adebiyi said INEC can only be said to be fair in the conduct of the Election if card readers are used on the Election Day.
The APC said it had had reasons to believe that some sinister moves were in place by the opposition.
Mr Adelowo, who read the open letter, rolled out four major areas, which he said are of utmost concern to the APC, if a free and credible election is to be conducted on the 9th of August, 2014.
While reading the letter, the party boss went on to accuse the electoral umpire of connivance with the PDP to rig the election with its insistence on non-usage of the card reader.
However, a stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Soji Adagunodo, has debunked the allegation, describing it as “spurious and unfounded”.
