The plot by Nasarawa state lawmakers to impeach governor Al-makura, went bloody as the Nigerian police shot two of the Leave Al-makura Alone protesters.
Activities of both lawmakers and the protesters reached fever point on Monday when 20 PDP lawmakers resume from recess directing the chief judge of the state to constitute a panel that will probe the governor.
The development from the State Assembly did not go down well with the pro-Al-Makura who have occupied the streets of Lafia for the past week.
Trouble started when the protesters refused to shift grounds as ordered by the police men from the scene of the assembly complex where the protesters confronted the lawmakers.
The victims who spoke little about the police attack said they went to the assembly on a peaceful demonstration.
The police spokesperson in the state, Mr Umar Numaan, said he is unaware of the alleged shooting by the police, but promised to visit the hospital to confirm the allegation or otherwise.
