NMA-logoThe Nigerian Medical Association, Oyo state branch has said that there are indicators pointing to the end of the ongoing strike.

Speaking to Channels TV in Ibadan the Oyo state capital, the branch chairman, Professor Adefolami Malomo, who described the ongoing strike as “painfully successful” expressed confidence that it would come to an end sooner than expected.

Prof. Malomo added that it would have been all over last Saturday but some grey areas in dialogue needed more circumspection.

He also disclosed that the ongoing consultation between all concerned point to the fact that a mutual agreement to end the strike would be reached soon.

Both parties involved in the strike must come to speedy conclusions on terms and agreement to mitigate the ongoing loss of lives, hope and other resources whose survival depend on them.

 Amosun Admonishes Striking Doctors Nationwide

Meanwhile, Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has admonished the striking doctors nationwide to seek alternative ways of resolving their grievances against the government rather than resulting to industrial action which has paralysed activities at different hospitals across the country.

The Governor stated this in Abeokuta, at the Annual General Meeting, (AGM) of the Nigeria Medical Association, (NMA), Ogun State chapter, held at the cultural centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.

While asking the striking doctors to call off their industrial action, he challenged them to see their profession and service as “humanitarian”, aimed at saving lives.
